Portland 2015 Cider Rite of Spring

Location: Tiffany Center, Downtown Portland, OR Bartender: Pourers for various Cidermakers Friends: Celeste, Scott
Ciders in order of Tasting:
1. Alter Ego Cider - The Ruby - this Raspberry cider is deep red in color, slightly tart and very tasty. This new cider maker came from Wine Making at Edgefield / McMenamins.
2. Hedgerow Cidery - Blue Butterfly Cider - this is the first cider from an orchard / cidermaker 12 years after they planted the trees. They have a save the blue butterfly campaign and plant wildflowers amongst the trees to provide a butterfly sanctuary. This cider is a still one, golden in color, and apple forward.
3. McMenamins Edgefield Cidery - Pomegranate Cider - this clear cider is a bright, light red color, and very tasty.
4. New West Cider (Sasquatch Brewing) - Berry Pie - This pale pink cider, had a light fruity scent, and blueberries are the main flavor along with the apples.
5. Swift Cider - Marionberry - pale red color, dry and tart.
6. 2Towns Ciderhouse - Throne of Thorns - this Raspberry and Blackberry Apple cider was deep red in color, and delicious.
7. E.Z. Orchards - Roman Beauty Cider - orange gold color, floral nose, and a rich layered flavor.
8. Rogue Ales & Spirits - Plot Twist Perry - this cider was a cloudy gold color, had a fruity nose, and the plot twist included adding peaches and plums to the pears.
9. Cider Riot! - Pinot Noir Barrrel-Aged Burncider - bright yellow color, pretty dry, and done in a Brickhouse style.
10. Alpenfire Cider - Smoke - awesome cider, that rates up there with the liquor of the Gods.
